Official Schoolcraft County records must come from the office that maintains them. The local contacts below route court files to the clerk and sheriff, booking, and jail matters to the sheriff’s office in Manistique. Statewide public criminal-history requests go through Michigan State Police CJIC. Because the county does not publish dependable counter hours for these local offices, call before visiting.

This Is Not a Government Office. This private reference resource cannot retrieve, change, certify, or remove a record, run an official check, or accept a set-aside filing.

Need an Official Record?

Send each Schoolcraft County request to the office responsible for that record:

  • Court case files: use the court case lookup, then call the Schoolcraft County Clerk/Register of Deeds at 906-341-3618
  • Certified judgments and archived court files: Clerk/Register of Deeds, Schoolcraft County Courthouse, Room 164, 300 Walnut Street, Manistique, MI 49854; call for current counter hours
  • Sheriff reports, bookings, jail custody, and warrant questions: Schoolcraft County Sheriff’s Department / Schoolcraft County Jail, 300 Main Street, Manistique, MI 49855, 906-341-2122; call for current lobby hours
  • Statewide public criminal history: Michigan State Police, Criminal Justice Information Center through ICHAT
  • Police incident records: ask the law-enforcement agency that created the report
  • Set-aside records: begin with the sentencing court and the current Michigan court and MSP instructions

The sheriff and jail do not publish a separate records-desk number or online request portal. For an executive-agency record, a written request may be made under Michigan FOIA, MCL 15.231 et seq. Court records remain governed by Michigan court-access rules.
