Terms of Use

These conditions govern use of Schoolcraft County Criminal History. Visiting a page, reading its content, or using a search feature means the visitor accepts them. Anyone who does not agree must stop using the site.

NO FCRA USE. This private website is not affiliated with Schoolcraft County, the State of Michigan, or another government body. It and its advertising partners do not provide services for credit, employment, insurance, tenant, or other Fair Credit Reporting Act uses. The site is not a private investigation firm or consumer reporting agency.

1. What This Website Is

This is an independent reference resource. It stores no official records and cannot retrieve, certify, correct, or remove a record or submit paperwork.

Its content directs readers to such official sources as the Schoolcraft County Clerk in Manistique, the Sheriff’s Department and Jail, Michigan State Police CJIC, MiCOURT, and the Michigan Public Sex Offender Registry. Third-party search services may also appear.

2. Rules for Using This Site

A visitor agrees not to:

  • Use the site in violation of federal, Michigan, or local law
  • Harass, stalk, threaten, or harm another person
  • Use site content for an FCRA-regulated decision
  • Seek unauthorized access to systems or data
  • Deploy bots, scrapers, or other automated collection tools
  • Disrupt the site or interfere with another visitor’s access

3. No Harassment, Stalking, or Discrimination

Information from this site or a linked service must not be used to stalk, intimidate, threaten, harass, or unlawfully discriminate. Michigan Public Sex Offender Registry information is published for lawful public-safety awareness under state dissemination rules, including MCL 28.728. It is not an invitation to vigilantism or retaliation.

4. We Are Not a Consumer Reporting Agency

The site is not a consumer reporting agency under the FCRA and produces no consumer, credit, or official background report. Neither the site nor an advertising partner offers a service intended to:

  • Make employment decisions
  • Evaluate a rental or housing application
  • Determine creditworthiness or insurance eligibility
  • Decide eligibility for a license, permit, or government benefit
  • Serve another purpose regulated by the FCRA

When a lawful purpose requires an official record, use Michigan State Police CJIC or another authorized, compliant channel.

5. No Legal Advice

Content is general information, not legal advice. Questions about how a Michigan charge, warrant, conviction, set-aside, or court rule applies to a particular situation belong with a licensed Michigan attorney.

6. No Warranties

The site and its content are offered “as is.” No promise is made that:

  • Content is always complete, accurate, or current
  • Access will remain uninterrupted
  • Pages are free from errors or security defects
  • A partner tool will return complete or correct results

Schoolcraft County and Michigan records can change after charges, dismissals, corrections, sealing, or set-aside action. Verify information with the office that maintains the original record.

7. Third-Party Services and Links

Links may lead to government portals, legal resources, or outside search providers. Those services control their own content, pricing, availability, privacy practices, and terms. The site is not responsible for them.

8. Intellectual Property

Text, code, graphics, and logos belong to Schoolcraft County Criminal History or its content partners. They may not be copied, altered, distributed, or used to create derivative material without prior written permission.

9. Limits on Our Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by Michigan law, the site is not liable for loss or damage arising from use of the site, its information, or any linked service.

10. Indemnification

A visitor agrees to defend and hold the site harmless from claims, demands, costs, and reasonable legal fees arising from that visitor’s use or breach of these terms.

11. Governing Law

Michigan law governs these terms. A dispute concerning site use must be brought in a court with proper jurisdiction in Michigan. Michigan FOIA, MCL 15.231 et seq., governs records held by public bodies and does not make this private site a public agency.

12. Changes to These Terms

These terms may be revised. A new version takes effect when it is posted on this page.

13. Cutting Off Access

Access may be limited or terminated at any time and without advance notice.

14. Severability

If one provision is held invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions stay effective. The affected language is adjusted only as necessary to make it enforceable.

15. Questions

Questions about these conditions may be directed through the Contact page.
